Sin embargo, durante la Asamblea Constituyente de 2007 tres temas pusieron dicha caracterización en aprietos: el derecho a la vida desde la concepción, el matrimonio homosexual, y la inclusión de Dios en el preámbulo de la Constitución. Este texto reconstruye la narrativa de esos debates y demuestra cómo la religión moldeó la conversación e impactó en los textos finalmente aprobados.
