For the development of this work, a qualitative methodology was applied through the search for information in national and international bibliographic, legal and jurisprudential sources. The result achieved consists in the identifcation of concepts that allow an in-depth analysis of the scope of the rights of nature and their application in specifc cases. Consequently, the judgment n.º 22-18-IN/21 is a reference for the protection of the rights of nature, setting standards that must be observed in a decision, and the Constitutional Court and the Ordinary Justice have considered in subsequent judgments. |

El presente trabajo muestra una visión de los derechos de la naturaleza desde los postulados de la teoría sistémica, que permite dotar de ciertos parámetros que se deben tomar en cuenta al momento de analizar el art. 71 de la Constitución de la República. La sentencia n.º 22-18-IN/21 marca un importante precedente sobre la protección de los derechos de la naturaleza, no solo por su reconocimiento a un ecosistema específico sino por la aplicación de una teoría que permite comprender el alcance de la norma constitucional y su relevancia para la protección de un ecosistema, en este caso, el manglar. Para el desarrollo de este trabajo, se aplicó una metodología de tipo cualitativa mediante la búsqueda de información en fuentes bibliográfcas, legales y jurisprudenciales nacionales e internacionales. El resultado obtenido consiste en la identifcación de conceptos que permiten analizar de forma profunda el alcance de los derechos de la naturaleza y su aplicación en casos específcos.
