| description | The urban regeneration has radically transformed the city of Guayaquil: the development of mega public projects, the improvement of services and the massive construction of different infrastructure have come together with normative and concomitant regulations that have modulated social, economic and cultural aspects. The undeniable positive impact of this phenomenon in the city is not excuse of some problematic aspects that bear these processes and the dynamics that derive from them. During several years, in the public artistic circuits have appeared works that establish dialogues and questions around these topics. This text was designed for a visual conference presented in one of the theoretical points that gathered the most recent Biennial of Havana (New Signs of Urban View and the Art), so here are exposed and contextualized a selection of this type of works. |

El innegable impacto positivo que ha tenido este fenómeno en la ciudad no está exento de que se señalen algunos aspectos problemáticos que conllevan estos procesos y las dinámicas que de ellos derivan. Durante varios años han aparecido en los circuitos artísticos públicos obras que entablan diálogos y preguntas en torno a estas aristas. Lejos de plantearse como una oposición tozuda a los aspectos provechosos de la regeneración, el campo artístico ha dado señales de querer establecer un espacio para el ejercicio ciudadano crítico afincado en la reflexión.
