Literature review of solid urban waste

This article presents the result of a bibliographical review on the management of urban solid waste. Some questions are presented and, in this context, the most relevant aspects that define the path of action research on the subject are cited. In addition, aspects of sustainable development are developed and interrelated at a global level with a focus on Latin America and, in particular, comments on waste management in the Argentine territory. Aspects involved in waste management at the municipal level are mentioned, including the concepts of cooperation, legal framework and actors. It should be noted that garbage not only contaminates the environment, water and air, but also has detrimental effects on public health and the lives of all living beings and that is why the issue is addressed in more than one of the development objectives developed globally. The bibliographic review carried out shows that waste is part of an active socio-environmental problem.
