סיכום:The efficient management of solid waste in higher education institutions is a crucial challenge in the search for sustainable and responsible practices. Therefore, the objective of this article was to analyze methodologies for the characterization of solid waste, through a systematic review for the development of guidelines to serve as guidelines for similar studies. The absence of specific standardized approaches for higher education institutions was identified. However, they are mostly based on what is stated by CEPIS and ASTM D5231-2, but there are still variations in the number of sampling days and sample quantity. On the other hand, the authors agree on the statistical validation methods through Crochan, Anova and multiple regression analysis, becoming appropriate tools that ensure the reliability of the data obtained. Finally, methodological recommendations were established for other higher education institutions.
