Innovations in the tourism sector. An analysis through patents Case: Metropolitan District of Quito, and universities with tourism schools: Las innovaciones en el sector turístico. Un análisis a través de las patentes Caso: Distrito Metropolitano de Quito, y universidades con escuelas de turismo

The study addresses aspects related to the conceptual part regarding patents, innovation, trademarks, invention, among others, to later present aspects related to the registration of patents, trademark registrations as a proposal from the academy and the different sectors and subsectors they have been carried out either in their main processes, or in the subprocesses that are present in each one of them. For this it was necessary to gather information through consultation in both primary and secondary sources, starting from a mixed methodological proposal (inductive, exploratory, qualitative and quantitative), developing a preponderant role as a research tool the field visit, manifested to Through the visit to the governing entity of the intellectual property of Ecuador (IEPI) in order to obtain full and concrete information from this source, in addition to the interview that was applied to the different actors, especially those linked to tourism schools and existing hotels in the city of Quito.
