It uses Mary Douglas’ notions of “purity” and “impurity” extended upon by Julia Kristeva, to understand how the femenine realm is constituted in the impure and, is therefore a threat to the hegemonic system. |

La relación sexual entre los personajes, doña Emperatriz y el sacerdote, cuestiona sus posiciones sociales; y esto les permite entrar en un espacio femenino abyecto donde lo establecido por el poder pierde sus límites.
