Results: From the bibliographic search, 15 articles were selected, within which the uses of fiberglass reinforced composites were identified in dental clinical specialties such as endodontics, oral rehabilitation, periodontics, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, and oral and maxillofacial surgery. Conclusion: Interest in the use of fiberglass-reinforced composites in dentistry is growing because they offer strength and hardness comparable to dental tissues, along with highly satisfactory aesthetics. However, more applications of these should be studied and new types of fiber reinforcement should be investigated. |

Métodos: Se realizó una búsqueda de literatura científica en bases de datos como ScienceDirect, Semantic Scholar, MEDLINE y EBSCO, durante diciembre de 2023, utilizando como descriptores las palabras fiberglass reinforcing composite, fiber-reinforced composite, dentistry, dental applications, dental specialties, combinados con los operadores booleanos AND y OR. Se incluyeron únicamente artículos originales, revisiones de literatura y comunicaciones breves publicadas a partir de 2018. Resultados: A partir de la búsqueda bibliográfica fueron seleccionados 15 artículos, dentro de los cuales se identificaron usos de los compuestos reforzados con fibra de vidrio en especialidades clínicas odontológicas como endodoncia, rehabilitación oral, periodoncia, ortodoncia, odontopediatría y cirugía oral y maxilofacial. Conclusión: El interés por el uso de compuestos reforzados con fibra de vidrio en odontología está creciendo, debido a que ofrecen resistencia y dureza comparables a los tejidos dentarios, junto con una estética altamente satisfactoria.
