| Crynodeb: | Resins for CAD CAM were introduced as restoration materials; however, surface preparation methods prior to cementation have not been clarified. Objective: To compare the effect of engravings with 9% hydrofluoric acid on the surface of prepolymerized resin laminates on different times by surface roughness analysis. Methodology: In vitro study carried out on 30 resin laminates divided into three groups (n=10), determining the initial roughness measurements with a digital profilometer. Subsequently, engravings with 9% hydrofluoric acid were applied for a time of 5, 15 and 20 seconds according to the groups and the surface roughness of each one who got evaluated again in order to compare with the initial roughness values. Statistical analysis was performed by variance analysis according to the normality in the distribution of the results. Results: The initial roughness in the analyzed resin groups presented similar average values that ranged between 0.38 and 0.40 microns. After performing the engravings with 9% hydrofluoric acid for a time of 5, 15 and 20s, the initial roughness values were 0.54, 0.69 and 0.89 microns, respectively. A statistically significant difference was found between the three groups. Conclusions: Hydrofluoric acid at 9% proportionally increased the surface roughness of Nanoceramic resin laminates for CAD CAM according to the engraving time of 5, 15 and 20 seconds, being the engraving time with 9% hydrofluoric acid on the surface of pre-cured resin laminates that had less effect on the roughness of this restoration material by 5s. |
