| Summary: | Dental whitening is an alternative that influences the physical appearance of people, however, it can be affected by the adherence of pigments. Objective. To determine the relapse of color in whitened dental pieces and subjected to staining with chromogenic beverages. Materials and Methods. Ninety third human molars extracted for orthodontic reasons, kept in artificial saliva at 37ºC in 100% humidity, organized as follows: experimental group was divided into two subgroups, one for each peroxide used, and a control group, consisting in 30 third molars each. Subsequently, the specimens were immersed in pigmenting solutions (coffee, black soda and red wine), for 10 minutes, every 24 hours for 20 days, and the rest of the time, leaving them to rest in artificial saliva. They were performed the respective color registers (initial, post micro abrasion, post lightening and after the pigmentation process) being necessary a digital colorimeter and Chromascop color guide. The data obtained were analyzed with the Kruskal Wallis test and Tukey`s Post Hoc with 95% significance. Results. A low dispersion is observed in terms of the variation of tones when black soda and coffee were used, but not with wine, a group in which a notorious browning was observed. Conclusions. The most harmful colorant was red wine, followed by coffee and black soda, the latter being practically harmless in terms of color recurrence. |
