| Zusammenfassung: | Afro-Ecuadorian ethnoeducation emerges as an educational project aimed at reclaiming the history and identity of the Afro-descendant population, challenging the official narrative that has largely erased their legacy. Inspired by leaders like Juan García, this initiative promotes awareness of African roots beyond slavery, strengthening a sense of belonging and fostering intercultural dialogue. Its implementation in Ecuador has been partial, facing barriers such as the lack of effective public policies and limited teacher training. Although the legal framework supports its inclusion in the curriculum, the practical application remains a challenge. Ethnoeducation seeks to vindicate Afro-Ecuadorian history and integrate it into national education to promote a more equitable society. Its success will depend on the commitment of the State, the educational community, and society as a whole. |
