From a qualitative and ethnographic approach, and from participatory observation and in-depth interviews, the empirical reference was built.El presente artículo comparte algunos de los resultados de un estudio realizado entre 2017 y 2021 en torno a la tarea docente en la formación profesional en educación física. Se seleccionó para el desarrollo de la investigación el profesorado de Educación Física que ofrece la Facultad de Educación Física de la Universidad Provincial de Córdoba (Argentina). El objetivo del trabajo fue describir y analizar cómo se enseña a enseñar educación física, al indagar en los modos de transmitir el oficio en las clases de Práctica Docente y Residencia III y IV, dos unidades curriculares que acercan al estudiantado al ejercicio docente y a la realidad educativa escolar. Desde un enfoque cualitativo y etnográfico, a partir de la observación participativa y de entrevistas en profundidad, se construyó la referencia empírica. El análisis de la información nos permite afirmar que en el encuentro entre docentes y estudiantes en el aula de formación se produce un saber muy específico sobre la educación física desde una perspectiva crítica.
