| Shrnutí: | Size, shape, or color alterations of the teeth and soft tissues in the anterior sector affect both aesthetics and functionality, making oral rehabilitation from a multidisciplinary approach necessary. The search for options such as the use of the biologically oriented preparation technique (BOPT) and crown lengthening contributes to the preservation and harmony of the gingival margin, as well as the adaptation of a new prosthetic crown. The objective of this article is to report a clinical case using the BOPT technique and clinical crown lengthening in a patient with a gummy smile, treated at the postgraduate dental and aesthetic operative clinics of Universidad San Gregorio de Portoviejo, Ecuador. After completing the corresponding clinical history, a diagnosis was made, and a multidisciplinary treatment plan was developed, which included crown lengthening to achieve gingival harmony and the adaptation of a new zirconia crown using the BOPT technique. It is concluded that the biologically oriented preparation technique is a viable option for preserving periodontal tissues, providing greater thickness and long-term stability. The success of this technique depends on the proper fabrication of the provisional laboratory material, marginal adaptation, and the initial health condition of the soft tissues. |
