The Public Debt Game

It is possible to affirm with certainty that the greatest achievement of dollarization is having managed to stabilize Ecuador's economy, a necessary condition for economic growth, but not sufficient to change the structural conditions of production in the country. In this framework, the renegotiation or non-payment of the external debt, as a policy of the Government of Rafael Correa, could mean savings for the State or an increase in the level of country risk, an index managed at the international level. The way in which this issue is handled will have an important influence on the political and economic future of the country.
