Sammanfattning: | One of the main problems of economic theory is to identify how consumers construct their preferences. In order to generate empirical evidence on the application of the revealed preference theory, a descriptive analysis of preferences for running shoes from the consumer's point of view is presented with the objective of identifying the factors that determine their preferences. For this purpose, through a non-probabilistic snowball sampling, an online survey was applied to people between 18 and 65 years of age residing in the city of Quito. The main results indicate that the following factors are considered the most important when choosing a running shoe: price, quality, aesthetics of the shoe (model, brand and color), and attention of the salesperson and the recommendation of a family member, friend or trainer. On the other hand, there are certain variables such as gender, age, income, consumer personality and type of athlete that alter consumer preferences in relation to running shoes and that have been incorporated into the research analysis. |
