Description
Summary:Lemon cultivation is an important activity in the Riochico parish of the Portoviejo canton, previous studies have not been able to determine the production process, the marketing chain and the profitability until reaching the final consumer. The objective of the present investigation is to analyze the production and commercialization of the subtle lemon in the Rio Chico parish and the effects caused in the economy of producers. The Bestlog case study was applied based on interviews with selected producers through a preferential non-random sample and the observation method, collecting information on the lemon chain. The characterization of the lemon chain was carried out, providing information on the management of farms to apply strategies that generate better performance in production and profitability. The results show producers using production techniques that prevent better development and higher yield, recommending better technology through integrated crop management. The commercialization is deficient in the way it is carried out, a reason that proposes negotiation alternatives, opening of new markets or giving added value to the fruit.
