Shrnutí:The use of organic fertilizers such as compost and humus obtained from raw materials of organic waste, is an alternative that is increasingly used in various crops, before which it is necessary to carry out an evaluation of the content of heavy metals, these they can accumulate in the soil as well as in substrates and can alter the biological balance affecting human health, being a problem that compromises food safety and public health. The objective was to determine the content of heavy metals copper (Cu), lead (Pb), nickel (Ni) and cadmium (Cd) present in raw materials (cut grass, chicken manure, peanut shells and cattle manure) in production of organic fertilizers (compost and humus) used in the association of cocoa producers Fortaleza del Valle. The samples were collected, dried and sieved, then in the laboratory they were digested with nitric acid (HNO3) and hydrogen peroxide (H202) using method 3050B of USDPA. The heavy metals quantification was performed by ICP ICAP 7200 spectrometry under the EPA 6010C Standard. The results obtained were statistically validated and showed that the content of Cu, Pb, Ni, Cd in each of the raw materials and organic fertilizers were within the permissible limits according to what is established in the Technical Manual for registration and control of fertilizers, soil amendments and related products for agricultural use issued by AGROCALIDAD in 2020.
