Shrnutí: | Accessing official data about cases of femicide in Uruguay is no easy task and, when accessed, discordant data are found. This difficulty has serious repercussions both for public awareness raising and for public policy design and civil society activism and advocacy on the issue. In this work, I examine the importance and complexity of counting with data (official and unofficial) about violent deaths of women related to gender. Taking previous studies about public information and official documents as a starting point, I briefly review data available from State sources, indicating gaps, weaknesses, and strengths. I conclude with recommendations for official data records and future lines of research. |
