Plates-traps were collected at 24 hours and taken to laboratory for sampling of visible colonies. Soil samples were serially diluted. In both cases, it was plated by exhaustion and purifying to obtain a strain collection of 93 strains (71 from soil samples and 22 traps). All agar seeded in carboxy methyl cellulose (CMC) to determine the cellulolytic activity by revealing them with congo red from the hydrolysis halo. Amylolytic activity was assessed by placing the strains in an environment whose only energy source was starch as revealed with Lugol’s iodine solution. AO-19 strain isolated from the organic area made the largest halo cellulose degradation 12.33 IU/mm while BM-1 strain isolated from the forest obtained 9.33 IU/mm diameter of starch hydrolysis halo. AO-19 strain has potential to be considered in obtaining bacterial bio preparations or composting organic fibrous material. |

Con la intención de aislar y seleccionar cepas bacterianas autóctonas con potencial para la degradación de celulosa y almidón se escogieron cinco ambientes (área orgánica, A.O; área convencional, A.Q; Bosque, B.M; área cañera, R.C y Compost, C) donde se ubicaron placas-trampas que contenían agar nutriente modificado, además se tomaron muestras de suelo de esos sitios. Las placas-trampas fueron recogidas a las 24 horas y llevadas a laboratorio para extraer muestras de las colonias visibles. Con las muestras de suelo se realizaron diluciones seriadas. En ambos casos, se sembró en placas y se purificó por agotamiento hasta obtener un cepario de 93 cepas (71 provenientes de muestras de suelo y 22 de trampas). Todas se sembraron en agar Carboximetilcelulosa (CMC) para determinar la actividad celulolítica mediante revelado con rojo congo, del halo de hidrólisis. La actividad amilolítica se evaluó sembrando las cepas en un medio cuya única fuente energética era el almidón y se reveló con solución yodo-lugol. La cepa A.O-19 aislada del área orgánica efectuó el mayor halo de degradación de celulosa con 12.33 UI/mm mientras que la cepa B.M-1, Aislada del bosque obtuvo 9.33 UI/mm de diámetro de halo de hidrólisis del almidón.
