description The present investigation focuses on knowing the influence of vehicular flow during peak hours with respect to ground-level concentrations of particulate matter with 10 and 2.5 microns in diameter (PM10 and PM2.5) in the northern area of the sector. La Pradera II, Guayaquil-Ecuador. To record the vehicle flow, the manual counting method was used and to measure the concentrations of PM10 and PM2.5, a Dylos air quality monitor model DC1700 was used; this was carried out on three days of the week (Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday) for four weeks, at seven points and in two time shifts (day and night). The averages were calculated from the values obtained to represent them in time series, histograms, normality test and Spearman correlation. The results showed that, in many cases, no significant correlations are observed, especially during the daytime, where sometimes the concentrations of PM10 and PM2.5 are not directly proportional to the number of vehicles. While at night there are correlations that vary between weak and moderate positive, indicating that increases in PM10 and PM2.5 concentrations are associated with slight and moderate increases in the number of vehicles. A large part of these variations are attributed to the dynamism that the particles possess due to factors not contemplated in this study, such as: meteorological, urban design and characteristics of each vehicle.
