description The objective of this research was to establish the morphological characteristics of 20 Arabica coffee cultivars and determine which cultivars best adapt to the agroecological conditions of the southern region of Manabí. The methodology involved evaluating 20 treatments corresponding to the following cultivars: Catimor 8666 (4-3), Catuaí Rojo UFV, Geisha, Bourbon Amarillo, Caturra Amarillo T-3386, Catimor CIFC-P2, Catimor CIFC-P1, Castillo, Arara, Pache, Acawa, Catimor CIFC-P3, Catucaí Amarillo -2 SL, Catimor UFV-5607, Caturra Rojo–Pichilingue, Catimor 8664 (2-3), Catuaí Amarillo, Sarchimor 4260, Typica, and Catucaí Rojo 785-15. A completely randomized unifactorial experimental design with five replications was used. The evaluated variables included plant height, canopy diameter, number of branches/stems, intermediate branch length, and number of nodes per intermediate branch. The results indicate that the greatest plant height was 296 cm, observed in the Catimor CIFC-P2 treatment. The largest canopy diameter was recorded for Pache at 200 cm. The highest number of branches per stem corresponded to Catuaí Amarillo, with 93 branches. The longest intermediate branch length was found in the Catimor CIFC-P2 treatment at 103 cm. The highest average number of nodes per intermediate branch was observed in the Pache cultivar, with 24 nodes. The coffee cultivars that exhibited desirable morphological characteristics were Pache, Caturra Rojo–Pichilingue, Acawa, Catimor 8664 (2-3), and Sarchimor 4260.
