Behavior of cassava genotypes on substrates and nutrient solutions

With the goal of improving the cassava seedlings propagation methods into large scale propagation the autotrophic hydroponic system was applied, the cassava genotypes: INIAP Portoviejo-650 (IP-650), INIAP Portoviejo-651 (IP-651), CM-3306-4-1 and CM-3300-19 were evaluated on substrates: peat, and coc...

Yhteenveto:With the goal of improving the cassava seedlings propagation methods into large scale propagation the autotrophic hydroponic system was applied, the cassava genotypes: INIAP Portoviejo-650 (IP-650), INIAP Portoviejo-651 (IP-651), CM-3306-4-1 and CM-3300-19 were evaluated on substrates: peat, and coconut fiber, and nutrient solutions: Murashige-Skoog, YaraMila-Complex, and water; for the purpose, a completely randomized design with factorial arrangement 4x2x3 and three replicates was carried out. The interaction between treatments IP-650 on peat and YaraMila-Complex (A1B2C2) showed the best multiplication ratio (1:10) in three months. Genotype CM-3306-4-1 was better than the other treatments sin some of the variables evaluated such as: number of nodes, number of leaves, and main root length. Peat showed the highest averages for the variables stem length, stem diameter, number of nodes, and number of leaves. The plants treated with the solution Murashige-Skoog best expressed their agronomic characteristics. In the greenhouse, seedlings were acclimatized and strengthen during 60 days before taking them to the field, seedling survival rate was 92,12%. In the field, Genotypes adapted well to their new conditions, in such a way that the survival rate was 98,49%. The lower seedlings cost was $ 0,39 for treatment IP-650 with peat and YaraMila-Complex (A1B1C2) and IP-650 with peat and water (A1B1C3).
