Тойм:Sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L.) is a crop of great importance due to its nutritional and agricultural value. However, there is a lack of specific information on fertilization to optimize its production. This study aimed to evaluate the agronomic performance of the introduced sweet potato variety INIAP-Toquecita under different types of chemical fertilization. The research was conducted in La Pipona, Rocafuerte canton, Manabí, using a Completely Randomized Block Design (CRBD) with three replications and eight treatments (seven chemical formulations and one control). Variables such as survival rate, chlorophyll index, number of vines per plant, foliar yield, number of commercial roots, and total yield were evaluated. Statistical analysis was performed using ANOVA in the InfoStat 2020 software, complemented by Tukey’s test (p≤0.05) for mean comparisons. The results showed a significant effect of chemical fertilization on the development and productivity of sweet potato. Treatment 2 (N 80 kg/ha; P 20 kg/ha) achieved the highest yield with 18.33 t.ha⁻¹ of commercial roots, surpassing the control and other treatments. This suggests that the formulation in Treatment 2 produces favorable results for the INIAP-Toquecita sweet potato variety. An appropriate chemical fertilization program can significantly enhance sweet potato productivity, providing an effective strategy to improve cultivation efficiency.
