Riassunto:With the aim of evaluating the influence of equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG) application after artificial insemination on conception rate and reduction of embryonic losses in Girolando cows, a trial was conducted at “Hacienda Manantiales del Rocío S.A.”, located in Manabí Province, Ecuador. During the experiment, two groups of 30 animals each were established, all subjected to the same insemination protocol. The response of a control group (without treatment) was compared to that of a group treated with 400 IU of eCG at 20, 30, and 40 days after fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI). Each experimental unit consisted of one Girolando cow. Conception rate (%) and early embryonic mortality (%) were determined through ultrasound analysis to identify changes in pregnancy status. Comparisons were made using the Student’s t-test. The results showed conception rates of 66.7% in treated cows and 53.3% in untreated cows. The application of eCG after artificial insemination did not significantly affect conception rate or early embryonic loss in Girolando cows.
