Ամփոփում:In this study, we evaluated the effect of Ancylostoma caninum on domestic dogs in the ̈Limoncito ̈ community, located in Chongón in the province of Guayas, from December 2014 to March 2015. To identify this geohelminth, we used the floating technique in a solution oversaturated with sugar, without centrifugation, and the cases were confirmed using modified Baermann. In this study, we used a non-parametric-prospective-transversal experimental design. The mixed-breed dogs, that were evaluated, were aged between 3 months and 10 years; 74 were male and 50 were female. All dogs had an owner and came from a household. From a total sample of 124 dogs (one/animal), 14 were positive for A. caninum, 5 of which came from animals with Ancylostomiasis symptomatology such as cough, weakness, dehydration, pale mucous membrane and watery diarrhoea with evidence of mucus and blood. After one of the infected dogs died, we determined the incidence, with a result of 11.29 %. We concluded that the parasite is present in the area of study, and has become a health problem for animals and humans because of the potential risk of being transmitted to the local people.
