Description
Summary:This article presents the development of a participatory process of media literacy for the social appropriation of Information and Communication Technologies, ICTs, with peasants framing communities that live in contexts of digital divide. The study focused on determining how this participatory process can be developed and, from there, contribute to the economic needs of the agricultural associations, such as the commercialization processes of their products, but also included the social and cultural context in which the technologies begin to be a part of the daily life of the farmers. This process was carried out from a qualitative approach and from a dialectical perspective, based on participatory research. Specifically, three stages were developed, the first focused on the diagnosis of the uses of ICTs in the association, related to social, cultural and geographical aspects. The second, from the realization of workshops design with the community for the appropriation of ICTs, in coherence with their particular needs as farmers. The third stage was the participatory evaluation of the complete process of media literacy. The research made it possible to establish the theoretical shift from the linear trilogy access-use-appropriation to highlight the communicative process that allows this to happen, that these meanings are built and transformed in the interaction between people and technologies.
