| Summary: | Under the theoretical parameters that history should be used to criticize the present and propose a change in a society, Jorgenrique Adoum presents in El sol bajo las patas de los caballos a paragon between the Spanish conquest and the political expansion of the most powerful countries over the weakest. Faced with the fact of this imposition, the resistance of the peoples, warned in the character of Rumiñahui, is an important element that marks the work. Adoum resorts to the elements of documentary and historical theater to show the aims that motivate both the Spanish conquerors and the new colonizers to speed up their presence on the continent. In the case of the former, the desperate desire for wealth and fame expressed by Pizarro stands out in order to become the lineage of the conqueror, while, for the latter, the reasons are related to the various natural minerals offered by Latin American lands. |
