En cuanto a Whymper, se estudia su ascenso al nevado en 1880, su trabajo fisiológico y cartográfico en los altos Andes del Ecuador. Ambas representaciones son vistas como modelos de creación de lo natural, donde intervienen encuadres científicos, estéticos y artísticos.
