Más allá de su valor literario, el autor propone que La hoguera bárbara sea leída como un texto histórico.

La hoguera bárbara pro poses a historical vision that makes the hero the central figure, it is of a distinct nationalistic character which allows understanding of the recuperation of this historical personage after the conflict with Perú in 1941.
