Why were elections not able to appease or mediate the social and political disputes of the republic in 1827? It is posited that, during the electoral process of 1827, the election of delegates to the constitutional convention was conceived as a designation of virtuous men located in the two opposing political factions and not as an election for political plans that would manage to settle the issue of shaping a nation-state. |
