Description
Summary:Circular economy has become relevant as a replacement to the classic method involving production lines, as it promises full use of natural resources in a more responsible manner, reducing waste and contamination levels as well as improving living conditions in the population. Its use in developed countries is already underway and, although developing countries have approached the model, such as the SDGs, it is still uncertain whether the appropriate conditions for its implementation exist in said countries. The objective of this study is to identify the obstacles in developing countries which would hinder their implementation and discuss whether they can be overcome. The methodology used was a systematic literature review. The study identified a relation between obstacles involving cultural matters and organizational, institutional and technological structuring. In order to overcome them, it would be necessary to bring forth commitment and joint work between the State, companies and society. These obstacles, although hard to overcome, also represent opportunities for economies in need to innovate and gain competitive advantages to achieve economic and environmental development.
