Description
Summary:This essay analyzes the impact of transhumanism and biotechnologies on the contemporary configuration of human life. It starts from the premise that, in the context of neoliberalism, these advances have ceased to be solely scientific processes and have become ideological and economic instruments that transform the concepts and practices of bioethics, politics, and human dignity. The objective is to examine transhumanism from a critical and historical perspective in order to identify the bioethical and biopolitical risks of biotechnologies in the neoliberal context. This is a theoretical and critical essay based on an interdisciplinary bibliographic mapping (philosophy, sociology, bioethics, and science and technology studies), and the hermeneutic strategy allows us to confront the postulates of transhumanism with the bioethical and political risks derived from its application in this context.
