| description | El presente trabajo de investigación tuvo la finalidad de diseñar un sendero interpretativo hacia el cerro Imbabura, comunidad Lomakunga, San Pablo, Imbabura, con el propósito de potencializar los atractivos naturales y manifestaciones culturales del pueblo kichwa Otavalo y de esta manera ayudar a la comunidad receptora a introducirse en el ámbito turístico. Los objetivos de estudio fueron: determinar el estado actual del sendero al cerro Imbabura; establecer el perfil del turista y determinar sus principales atractivos turísticos. Se empleó la investigación descriptiva con enfoque mixto: cualitativo y cuantitativo, como técnicas se aplicó la visita de campo, focus group, encuestas y entrevistas a representantes de la comunidad y a turistas que ya visitaron el sendero existente. El sendero está dirigido para turistas tipo hard, que cuenten con una buena condición física, tiene una extensión de 4 km, se propone la implementación de 12 paradas interpretativas y señalética necesaria para el desarrollo de la actividad turística |

The purpose is potentiated the natural attractions and cultural manifestations of the Kichwa Otavalo people and thus helping the community to enter into the tourism field. The objectives of the study were: to determine the current state of the path to the Imbabura hill; to establish the profile of the tourist and to determine the main tourist attractions of the study area. Descriptive research with a mixed approach was used; Qualitative and quantitative, as field visit techniques, focus group, surveys and interviews were applied to community representatives and tourists who already visited the existing path. The trail is intended for hard tourist’s type, who have a good physical condition; it has an extension of 4 km.
