সংক্ষিপ্ত:Introduction: HIV-AIDS is a disease characterized by the decrease of TCD4 cells, creating a weak immune system that may be susceptible to several opportunistic diseases, including neurological. This are capable of causing musculoskeletal disorders and disability. Objective: To determine the prevalence of neurological opportunistic diseases in patients with HIV/AIDS at Dr. José Daniel Rodriguez Maridueña Infectology Hospital in Guayaquil. Methodology: This research work is retrospective with a non-experimental design, with a descriptive scope, a quantitative approach and a sample of 522 patients with opportunistic neurological diseases. Results: The prevalence of our study showed a result of 17% of the total number of patients treated. Cerebral toxoplasmosis was the one that stood out with more than half of the population, the age group between 26 and 45 years were the most common, 79% of the population were men ad Guayas was the province with most cases in Ecuador. Conclusion: Opportunistic neurological diseases cover a large percentage of patients infected with HIV-AIDS and these should receive physical therapy as part of their specialized treatment.
