Samenvatting:It is said that those families that do not have a property title, do not have assets, a recurrent situation in the informal settlements of Quito, where this legal irregularity represents a null growth at the family economic level, and deficiencies in both their own homes and in the settlement in general. For a better understanding of the real situation in these informal settlements, we visited several informal settlements, mainly the Camino a la Libertad neighborhood, located northwest of the city of Quito, to understand the root of the problem, and analyze the factors main that are common in these sectors, also within this study we can see how the case of the neighborhood mentioned is becoming a reference within the city to meet particularities both in regard to its formation, as alternatives to legal solution that are being carried out. In this virtue, this emblematic case will be used as the research axis and we will analyze in a general way the factors of conformation, consolidation and solution around this problem. These factors are present in this case, but they are also repetitive in the different settlements in fact in the city. The main aim of this essay is, once the legal problem is understood, to take this as a starting point to propose solutions that are in line with the existing regulations and that adjust to the reality of those who have lived for years in informality and who intend to achieve your property title. As a result of this research it is determined that a more effective regulation is needed, in the sense that the existing one proposes complexities and obstacles for those who wish to access it, therefore, this work proposes two solutions, the administrative and the via judicial, solutions that are available to those who seek to achieve their individual property title, so that once this has been achieved, this becomes a real and reliable precedent for those who wish to access these solutions tomorrow .
