الملخص:Introduction: Maintaining healthy mouth tissues is of great importance, salivary pH contributes to the conservation, maintenance and care of the same, the correct functioning of saliva and salivary pH balance, will prevent future diseases, mainly avoiding training of caries and periodontal diseases, saliva and salivary pH will act as a defense, preventing the poor hygiene and acids produced by food from being harmful. Objective: the present paper performed the comparison of salivary pH in patients with and without periodontal disease, who attended the Integral Dentistry Center of the Universidad de Las Americas. Materials and methods: Randomly, the pH measuring strips placed inside the mouth were examined in the patients required by the study, a total of 60 people from 18 years of age and older, both sexes, excluding smokers, people who had systemic and pregnant diseases. Results: several parameters were obtained as a result; the youngest patients were those who presented a neutral salivary pH and the lowest percentage of patients with periodontal disease, while the adults and older adults were those who presented an acid pH. Female sex were also the ones that showed values that showed an acid pH. Conclusion: It was observed that the patients with the best pH quality were the young patients, unlike the adult patients who showed the values of an acid pH.
