description The skin diseases are of great importance in clinic studies. In 1995, Scott identified that 25 percent of the small animals came to medical appoinment for skin diseases. Pradeñas (2000), determined that the main reason for euthanasia corresponds to diseases of the skin. The objective of this research was to study the presence of dermatologic diseases of canines and felines diagnosed in DERMATOVET in the Metropolitan District of Quito through a retrospective study during 2009-2016. 848 medical records were obtained. It was founded that the most common skin diseases in dogs, according to a statistical analysis were: DAC, scabies demodecica, hypothyroidism, DAPP, ringworm, contact dermatitis, pemphigus, food allergy and sarcoptic mange. In felines were founded: Ringworm, DAF, scabies otodecica, sarcoptic mange, pemphigus and scabies demodecica, as the most frequent. In the study were showed more dogs than cats and more males than females. For the statistical analytical analysis, linear regression were used. Thus, it was determined that canines more prone to infectious dermatitis were younger, low weight, females and the following breeds: german shepherd, Chihuahua, San Bernardo, bull terrier and dachshund. In the skin diseases of metabolic origin was found greater predisposition in animals with more age and weight, sterilized males and the following breeds : chow-chow, bull dog, schnauzer, sharpei, shihtzu, weimaraner. In the dermatitis of immunological origin. It was found that there is more willingness in entire females, older canines, also if they are sterilized and in the following breeds: chihuahua, dachshund, german shepherd, pitbull, sharpei and west highland terrier. Finally, in the skin diseases of neoplastic origin showed that to higher age and weight more predisposition to the disease. In felines, we found that there is a greater willingness to infectious skin diseases and skin diseases of immune origin at an older age. In the same way, Persian and mestizo races are more likely to have skin diseases.
