| Resumo: | The purpose of this research is to analyze the state of empathy levels and to show if there is burnout in medical students of a university located in the north of Quito, before and after their prehospital practices. For this it is important to compare the levels of empathy and burnout, identifying if burnout is an influential factor in medical empathy. To introduce the reader to the research, topics such as empathy, depression, burnout and compassion have been addressed. Regarding the methodology, a quantitative approach study of descriptive-comparative scope and non-experimental design was carried out. To this end, a sociodemographic questionnaire and three data collection tools have been used: the Beck Depression Inventory, the Jefferson Medical Empathy Scale and the Maslach Burnout Inventory. The sociodemographic questionnaire and the Depression Inventory are aimed at collecting data to check the inclusion and exclusion criteria, that is, they will be screening tools. The Medical Empathy Scale and the Burnout Inventory aim to measure the levels of empathy and burnout of students before and after prehospital practices. At the end of the study it is expected to know if the levels of empathy and burnout after the practices change, and how these two variants are related. |
