With words you can build or destroy collective imagination, stereotypes, or the image of people and occurrences in front of society. In this investigation, the main purpose was to identify, with a TV-monitoring, on May 2014, the use of inclusive or non-inclusive language in the Ecuadorian stellar news program: Informativos ECTV and Televistazo, focused on the vulnerable groups: senior citizens, people with disabilities, afro-ecuadorians, children, women, GLBTTTI community, and native people. With the results, it was possible to demonstrate a high degree of invisibility of these groups in the news reports, the appearance of them in negative contexts, and the violation of some articles from the Organic Law of Communication (2013). We came to the conclusion, that there is a lack of awareness of the Law of Communication in different social sectors; and that the SUPERCOM, the state entity in charge of the compliance with the law, has not accomplished an ideal work. |
