| Sažetak: | The research design is of an observational, descriptive cross-sectional nature with a qualitative approach to knowledge and biosecurity skills in fourthsemester students who enter the UDLA Dental Care Center for the first time, in the period March - In May 2018, with a sample of 96 students who entered the CAO for the first time, a survey of 10 questions was conducted and percentages were obtained revealing the level of knowledge, skills and practice about biosecurity. The results obtained when analyzing the level of knowledge based on biosecurity that students have was 82.8%, 79.6% know that they are exposed to infectious diseases and 65.6% do not know that needleless siringes should be disposed of in biological waste . It was also possible to evaluate the skills that the students possess and the variable was analyzed, perform procedures with previous theoretical knowledge, and it was observed that 84.9% did, 95.7% did not eat food in the CAO and 65.5% did not notify coordination if a student would treat a patient with non-sterile instruments. And finally the student's practice could be evaluated, and based on the questions it was observed that 95.7% if they wash their hands before and after each procedure, 79.5% always verify that their instruments are sterile, 75.3% use goggles and 86% place biosecurity to the patient. It is concluded that the 4th semester students who joined the CAO have knowledge of biosafety. |
