Aplicación de técnicas de diseño en el desarrollo de una colección de joyas contemporáneas fabricadas en “marfil vegetal” y metales nobles, para el proyecto de la Federación Nacional de Elaboradores de productos en Tagua (Fedetagua)

The following design proposal is based on the application of “vegetable ivory” as the main raw material in the manufacture of a jewelry collection with contemporary style, creating unique contrast through the combination of noble metals, precious stones and organic materials. In this case the “tagua”. The main goal of this project is to create an important reference of innovation for craftsmen associated with the National Federation of Products Made in Tagua (FEDETAGUA), as an example of the quality and aesthetic level, that a handmade product can reach if it combines properly the theory of product design applied to manual production processes. Considering that the conceptual core of this project is the contrast obtained by the combination of materials, four photographs have been selected from a total of 160 (made in the parish of Nayon, Quito), as the main source of chromatic and morphological elements, from which a collection of 8 pieces of jewelry have been designed and are presented as a prototype, together with this final project. Having completed this interesting innovation project, it has been concluded that the correct combination of materials and design intervention in crafts and industrial processes, can allow us to obtain excellent formal, functional and above all, conceptual results.
