| Summary: | Objective: To evaluate by tomography the root reabsorption of the four upper incisors by the presence of habits. Method: The study was of observational cross-sectional type. To develop it, 40 cases of patients aged between 8 and 17 years were studied, 20 of them presented lingual interposition habit and the other 20 did not. Results: The descriptive comparative analysis shows that the RRE level is 15.12% higher in people with lingual interposition habit; that the central pieces present a higher level of RRE, the RRE is higher in people of the male gender, as well as in persons between 15 and 17 years old; and that there is a correlation between the presence of habit of lingual interposition and external root reabsorption (RRE). Additionally, it can be affirmed with 99% certainty that patients with a lingual interposition habit show RRE. Conclusions: There is a correlation between RRE and the existence of lingual interposition habit; the degree of REE is higher in patients who present the habit of lingual interposition in relation to patients who do not present it; RRE is greater in patients aged 15-17 years because the greater the time of habit, the greater the root resorption; and in male patients because the genioglossus muscle is more potent in men. |
