| Sumario: | Energy has always been a development tool and the engine of the economy of many countries, seen as a sector that has evolved around supply the social demand. The main source of energy consumed mostly from long ago have been fossil fuels, classified as non-renewable energy sources and therefore exhaustible, which generate Both production and consumption of hydrocarbons in Ecuador have been given under conditions that do not lead the country toward energy governance, a result of which, the political agenda now includes a possible change of the energy matrix in order to increase and diversify sources of renewable energy that can supply long-term the demand of fossil fuels. Thus, research has two areas of study; the first one about general energy policies and incentives that governments have to put in the agenda the energy sector as an opportunity to development. On the other side is the analysis of energy matrix as such and its possible transition within Ecuador; this represents one of the biggest challenges within the government of the Revolución Ciudadana. |
