Περίληψη:The universality of human rights and its inherent characteristic to mankind have been fundamental concepts that contributed to the creation of an inter-American system to ensure the protection and promotion of those basic rights we all human beings enjoy. Although Ecuador has signed and ratified all the regional instruments on human rights and considering that has been one of the most active countries in the Inter-American Human Rights (ISHR), the President of the Republic of Ecuador, Rafael Correa Delgado, has made strong criticisms of one of its organs, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (CIDH), questioning the effectiveness of their work and impartiality towards member countries that comprise it.. One of the resources used in this analysis is the historical method, since it allows demonstrate, in chronological order, the evolution of the universal concept of human rights and the consolidation of an international entity that will guard the protection of human rights in the Americas. Additionally, the analytical method was used, through which it is possible to review the work of the Commission in the emblematic cases of human rights violation that arose in Ecuador from 2007 to 2015. Period that covers the three consecutive mandates of the President of the Republic of Ecuador, Rafael Correa Delgado. This analysis has several views expressed through interviews realized to distinguished academics and specialists in the defense of human rights in the country. As a result of the investigation it is concluded that the work of the Commission in Ecuador has been positive for the promotion and protection of human rights in the country, because it is thanks to this tool that hundreds of Ecuadorian citizens, whose human rights have been violated, have been able to find justice. Notwithstanding, it should be stressed that the Commission could improve its performance, but in order to do so, is required from the political will and financial support of the majority of member countries of the OAS.
