Centro psiquiátrico, Valle de los Chillos

Mental health condition is primordial for an individual to be aware of his own abilities, also keep a normal life and work in a fruitful way and be able to contribute to the society; anyone should be able to enjoy it. Although there are innumerable mental illnesses nowadays, schizophrenia has been considered as one of the worst transgressions that a person could suffer, this condition has generated an atmosphere of rejection around it, is for that reason that this psychiatric center is focused on patients that are suffering this disease. The equipment will have three large pavilions that respond to the different needs of the patients in the different stages of the illness, all this developed at underground level in a large open floor plan, where the columns and in general the structure of the project, provides all the required spaces in the center. Looking for illumination and ventilation, empty spaces and courtyards are proposed along the project which at the same time are extruded to the surface, the main idea is to create a project that also contributes to the city’s landscape. The equipment responds to the natural environment and functionally is clear and orderly; the areas that patients require are articulated and well connected to each other, responding to all the needs without any plastic limitations.
