| Özet: | The relationship between the maxilla and the mandible in the sagittal part is one of the most relevant evaluations at the time of making a cephalometric diagnosis. The objective of the study was to determine, by means of a comparison, the relationship that exists sagittally between the jaws by comparing the angle ANB that is the most used for this purpose and two alternative measures such as the Wits proposed by Jacobson and the APDI (Indicator of antero-posterior displasy) proposed by Kim; in addition to this, the validity of APDI modified by Sato with Kim's APDI was verified, this study was carried out in 90 digital lateral cranial radiographs, obtained in the Clinic of the Odontology Faculty of the Specialty of Orthodontics UDLA 2015-2017; the radiographs had to have certain parameters, among which are lower definitive first molars and lower erupted first premolars, no previous orthodontic treatment, no surgical patients, no prosthesis wearers, for each measurement the cephalometric software was used. edited to have only the necessary measures. The total radiographs were divided into three: 30 Class I skeletal radiographs, 30 Class II skeletal radiographs and 30 Class III skeletal radiographs and sex. The measurements used were Steiner's ANB, Kim's APDI, Sato's APDI, Jacobson's Wits, statistical results were obtained using the Chi square index and the Cohen's Kappa test, with a p = <0.05 it was found that the angle ANB when compared to the Wits coincided in: Class I 66.67%, Class II: 63.33% and Class III: 100%; as for the ANB with the APDI they coincided in: Class I 70%, Class II: 63.33%, and Class III: 100%; while the Wits and the APDI coincided in: Class I 96.77%, Class II: 100%, and Class III: 95%; Kim's APDI when compared to Sato's APDI coincided in: Class I 90.63% Class II: 94.74 %% and Class III: 100%; With which it is concluded that when presenting a diagnosis in the sagittal relationship and if there is any doubt, a simple comparison can be made between any of the four analyzes investigated |
