| Résumé: | In the following thesis Project, an Ep of two own compositions was produced, both based on the analysis of two songs from Manuel Medrano s eponymous album. All this was done by using broad knowledge acquired during my studies. It all started by organizing a schedule which enabled the control and workflow. Besides that all musicians and participants set dates for recording and mixing, in order to manage the Project properly. During the recording stage instruments, microphones, and analogue equipment were carefully searched to find similar characteristics from the reference songs. The production of this Ep was guided by Esteban Acosta, who has worked as session musician with Nicolás Ladrón de Guevara, engineer in charge of recording Manuel Medrano s disc. Acosta also participated as co-productor with Fernando Laura in Mexico DF with Daniel Paez production. Laura also did the string arrangement in some Medrano s songs. At the completion of the project it can be concluded that in order to get a really high estándar production, there are several factor that influence the results. The first is to have a well-structured song. Then, all instruments, microphones and analogue and digital equipment are essential to get a final product with excellent quality. Voice recording in any style must be carefully treated by exploiting the dynamics and qualities of the voice tone of the singer. It is important to correctly select the microphone. We conclude that in spite of some difficulties found during this project and not having the same budget it can be shown that by using the appropriate equipment and instruments, a similar sonority can be obtained. |
