| الملخص: | Determine the impact of physical activity (AF) on cancer in the Metropolitan District of Quito. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Cross-sectional study reviewing the data of the program Salud al Paso. The number of the people with cancer was calculated and AF performers at the general level and by zonal districts. The association between the AF variable, cancer and confusing variables was also analyzed through a Chi2. Finally, the odd ratios were calculated through multiple regression. The variables analyzed were age, sex, BMI, education level, tobacco use, alcohol use, physical activity and parish. RESULTS: Two hundred and eighty-two people had cancer, representing 0.50, of these 47 resided in zone 6 (0.08 percent). The Chi2 test determined a significant association between cancer and all of the above-mentioned variables (p 0.002), except in the physical activity and parish variables. Multiple regression found significant associations with risk factors for the variables parish zonal area 2 (IC 1.376 – 1.724) (p 0.001); 3 (IC 1.053 – 1.328) (p 0.004); 4 (IC 1.168 – 1.501) (p 0.001) y 9 (IC 1.104 – 1.459) (p 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of cancer in this study was 0.50 percent. The area with the highest number of cases was zonal area 6 with 0.08 percent. There was a significant association between cancer and age, sex, BMI, smoker, alcohol and education. The main risk factors were living in zonal area 2, 3, 4, and 9. |
