सारांश:The study of poverty has been extensively developed through various approaches and theories in which poverty has been found to be a multidimensional phenomenon. This research through the use of the multidimensional poverty indicator analyzes the impact of the socio-demographic structure on rural poverty levels in Pichincha. The hypothesis seeks to prove that the rural communities of Pichincha with geographic marginality in 2010 are likely to be in poverty. The results confirm the hypothesis, since the average geographic marginality variables exert a direct effect on the probability that a person is poor. Among the findings of the model, it was found that if a rural parish has a greater proportion of land suitable for agriculture and if it has a larger number of people per km2, the probability of a person being poor decreases. Likewise it was found that if the time in minutes required to move from a rural parish to its urban center increases, the probability of being poor also increases.
