Summary:The research was oriented to know in a general way the types of molar malocclusion that were more frequent in the community of Iluman - Otavalo. Objectives: 60 young people from the community, reviewed with ages between 16 and 20 years old, the objective was to establish the prevalence of types of malocclusion molar according to Angle of each hemi-maxila, interacting in the same way the variables of age and gender. Materials and methods: Each evaluated read detail and signed an informed consent to participate in research that consists on several stages including the clinical diagnosis, the photographic record only intraoral side and the obtaining of study models, which were used as adjuvants to have an accurate diagnosis. Results: The results generally ratified malocclusion class 1 as the most predisposing with 42 percent, the class 2 malocclusion hardly reached 3 percent, class 3 malocclusion represent 13 percent, but a high percentage represent the discrepancy between the types of malocclusion, each hemi - maxila with 42 percent value. Examining separately the hemi - maxila, on the right 70 percent corresponds to class 1, class 2 10 percent and 20 percent to class 3. In the left hemi - maxila the percentage of class 1 under 52 percent, in class 2 was obtained 17 percent and class 3 32 percent , showing the existing inequality between hemi - maxila, with the results acquired, used tables and graphs for a better understanding, students T was selected for the evaluation of hypothesis in this case statistical test. Conclusions: The highlighted conclusions were the existence of variations of results depending on the region in which evaluates the type of occlusion, demonstrating that in this community, there is a high rate of non-matches between the two hemi - maxila and the class 1 malocclusion is the most prevalent, followed with a lower percentage of class 2 and class 3.
